Will microneedling help soften scar tissue on my nose tip?

Question

I have developed scar tissue on the tip of my nose after revision rhinoplasty. I had revision rhinoplasty 1.5 years ago. I have thick skin, and I've developed scar tissue on tip of my nose. Will microneedling help soften scar tissue? Please help!

Thank you for your question in regards to microneedling. Yes, microneedling can help soften scar tissue and improve overall skin tone and texture. Although a series of treatments will be required to achieve desired results. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist for after care. I recommend Silagen + Bioshield to promote healing. Any scarring can be improved with lasers and microneedling/prp. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thanks for your question! Generally speaking, microneedling is an effective way to minimize the appearance of surgical scarring. There are many other treatments, like the Fraxel laser, that may be a better fit for your concern. I would recommend seeking out a board-certified dermatologist, or reaching out to your original surgeon, for an in-person evaluation.

There are several treatment options to help soften scar tissue. Microneedling is definately one of them. It will take at least 4-6 treatments and 6 months to see maximum results. Fraxel laser and steroid injections are also great options to soften a thickened scar. Seeing a Dermatologist to discuss the best treatment options would definately be beneficial.

Microneedling can help soften the appearance of surgical scars, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and smooth overall skin texture. Fractional lasers such as CO2 or Pearl could be another option.
