Is it uncommon to do an upper knee tuck?

Question

I am aware that lipo on the area above the knee is tricky, partially due to loose skin afterward. I would be willing to have a fine, arched scar above my kneecaps... Is it so uncommon to simply excise the extra skin in this location? I doubt anyone would judge the scar as a cosmetic one. They'd assume it was injury-related. My guess is it takes a while to heal because of the constant movement.

I do surgeyr in this area frequency its not a hard place to place a scar.  Hi Definition liposuction does very well and so does ThermiRF to this are .  Best, Dr. Emer.

An upper knee lift can be done and the acceptance of an arced scar above the patella is the primary requirement. The key in doing the procedure is to mark the amount of skin to be removed with the knee both extended and flexed. The excisional markings with the knee bent at 90 degrees determines the maximum amount of skin to be removed.

Areas of skin laxity are usually seen in the parts of the body with significant movement.This is especially true over the knee.There has to be sufficient skin to be able to flex the knee all the way.If you flex your knee all the way now and there is still skin redundancy then there is skin that can be removed. If however your skin is tight when you flex knee all the way then imagine what it would be like if you had skin removed.there's a reason this is not a commonly performed procedure.Part of that reason is not a common complaint secondly there needs to be sufficient to skin laxity to compensate for leg movement.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.

not it is not uncommon for surgeons to perform 
liposuction to the knees. Typically, patients who ask for liposuction to
the knees have undergone significant weight loss or have suffered a great loss
in skin elasticity due to age or a medical condition. Your plastic surgeon
won’t be able to completely remove all excess skin, or else your knee would not
be able to bend properly. However, a good surgeon should be able to remove most
of your sagging skin and make the knees look more aesthetically pleasing.  The amount of skin removed and any desired
cosmetic improvements to your knees are something that must ultimately
discussed during an in-person consultation, however.
