Hello, I am a 25 year old female and I have genetic dark circles. I already have Restylane fillers to fill in the hollows and treat the darkness caused by shadow. However, I still have dark pigment around my eyes. My question is whether it is worth to use PRP treatment to lighten the pigment under my eyes and eyelids. Is it effective?

Answer: Under Eye Darkness Thank you for your message! PRP is a great option for the under eye area. Typically multiple treatments are needed for full effect. Usually for the under eye area a combination of treatments works best. This would include laser resurfacing, chemical peels, microneedling with PRP or PRP alone, and dermal fillers.

Answer: PRP for genetic dark circles Thanks for your question because it is one of the most common complaints I see. The lighting makes it a little difficult to evaluate in your photo so an in-person consultation would be more helpful, but in general best results involve using multiple methods. I usually employ topical skin brighteners with PRP injections if there is mild volume loss or a combination of PRP and fillers or fillers alone along with topical skin brighteners. I have used microneedling also in selected patients but it can cause hyperpigmentation in some. Of course these treatments as all others require maintenance for continued results.
