How will a breast augmentation affect my ribcage tattoo?

Question

I'm currently a 34AA, 5'3" and 110 lbs - I'm looking to get a a breast augmentation to end up with a 34C. If I end up with implants around 350cc (under the muscle), will my tattoo creep up into breast tissue? This will not prevent me from doing the surgery, I'm just looking for possible expectations. I've had one child so my breast tissue has stretched before.

hello thank you for your question and provided information as well..based on the exposed photo, I see that you are a perfect candidate for breast augmentation if lifting the ideal in your case would be small silicon implants with high profile for better projection.in the case of your tattoo, it would not affect because the incision in the areola is like a half moon.Any doubt you are free to contact me.

Dear Mandalala,    Depending on your breast dimensions and the size of the implant you choose, you MAY experience some "creep" of the tattoo on to the bottom of your breasts. A 350cc implant is not a large implant in my opinion and I doubt that this will change the overall character/design of your tattoo. I've included a photo of a patient of mine as an example. An augmentation will recruit upper abdominal skin onto the breast, so your tattoo will appear higher. Good luck!

This is a great question! We’ve had patients with similar under the breast tattoos that have done really well with breast augmentation. Depending upon the implant size and skin “stretchability”, the tattoo may be covered some by the bottom of the breast.  It’s important to discuss this with the board certified plastic surgeon you choose so they can show you where the incision will be placed and approximately where the implants will sit.  This will give you a better idea of what to expect.  Good luck with your surgery!

Thank you for your question. The most likely outcome will be for a slight creep of the tattoo up to the lower portion of your breast. The options for the incision would be in the crease of the breast or just above the claw on the tattoo or to place the incision in the arm pit.  Best of luck.Dr. Rast

Given the location of your tattoo below the inframammary fold and the laxity of your breast tissue, breast augmentation will likely not affect your tattoo to any significant degree.  The incision will probably be just above your tattoo on either side and stretch the breast tissue more than the chest tissue.  Thanks for the question and good luck!

Most likely breast augmentation will have a minimal effect on the tattoo. It is largely below the inferior pole of the breast so enlargement of this area will only mean the very top of the tattoo may end up on the very bottom of the enlarged inferior pole of the breast.

Whether or not the tattoo will creep up a little onto the lower breasts depends an the distance from your nipple to the crease and the diameter of the implant used. But with a relatively small implant like the 350cc the creep, if any, should not be bad.

Yes, the lower pole of the breast will pull the top of the tattoo up onto it. No problem as long as you know that.
