19 days post-op rhinoplasty, is it okay to get 3rd Dermapen session in 2 weeks? (photo)

Question

Hi, I was recommended for at least 4 sessions of Dermapen 5-6 weeks apart. 2 weeks aftermy second dermapen session, I underwent Rhinoplasty + Alarplasty. I am now on my third week post-op, 19 days to be exact, and wonder if I can have my third session of Dermapen 2 weeks from now. My surgeon says it’s okay. I am just seeking some inputs other than my PS. Attached is my current photo of 19 days nose job post-op. Thanks.

If your rhinoplasty surgeon has given you the "go ahead" I don't see any issue with undergoing the Dermapen treatment. I generally would recommend waiting approximately 4 weeks after rhinoplasty, however, to have any microneedling treatments. Also, I would recommend to avoid treating the nose with the microneedling device for at least 2-3 months postop.

Thanks for your question and photo.  There is no hard and fast rule on when to have a procedure on your nose after rhinoplasty and I would defer to the plastic surgeon treating you.  In general, I recommend avoiding any procedures to a surgical site until at least 4-6 weeks post operatively.  This timeframe can be longer depending on the surgery performed, the site of the surgery, and the intervention being performed.  I hope this helps and good luck.

Your surgeon would know best based on your particular case and what was done in surgery.  Many of my patients ask this same question.  My usual answer is to wait for 8 weeks following the surgery before manipulating the skin on top of the nose.  This may seem like a long time, but I believe that manipulating the skin prior to 8 weeks can cause new swelling and prolong existing swelling after a rhinoplasty.

if your PS said ok then it should be fine.  all PS surgeons are different....I would recommend to my patients to wait 1 month for any skin care or lasers or dermapen to the nose area.  hope this helps.
