Would liposuction of my chin and jawline be enough to address the lack of definition in my face or am I a candidate for buccal fat pad removal?I also have a bulge on the lower portion of my cheeks that connects to the fat under my chin. I almost think that I may need a chin implant with wings to connect my chin to my jaw. I am 5'6" and 145 lbs the weight in my face really makes me look significantly heavier. A plastic surgeon has also offered to suture the muscle under my chin?

Answer: What procedure would help define my jawline and connect my chin to my jaw? A complete set of photos and a physical exam are needed in order to give you a recommendation of treatment options. For candidates with excess fat under the chin and looking for jaw line improvement there are several procedures that could be performed:1. Traditional (standard) liposuction of the neck/submental area2. SmartLipo PrecisionTX of the Neck, submental, and JawlineBoth procedures give satisfactory results to our patient. Please consult with a board certified Facial Plastic Surgeon.Hope this helps,Dr. Gus Diaz

Answer: Neck lift for better jawline definition A full set of facial photographs are required before making a determination about what is needed. From the one very limited photograph, there appears to be fatty deposits in the neck. The fat deposits in the neck can be located above and below the platysma muscle. Both compartments need to be removed in order to rejuvenate the neck. Once the fat has been removed underneath the platysma muscle, a platysma plasty is performed to improve the jawline. When patients are over 50 years of age and have loose skin, a lower face and neck lift is required. For many examples and more information, please see the link and video below
