Thank you for your question.I don't believe that an insurance company would pay a surgeon more and I would be surprised if they do ... So, insist on getting a board certified surgeon.Dr H Karamanoukian
I would not recommend having an NP or PA remove a lipoma. Insist on an experienced surgeon such as a plastic surgeon or a general surgeon.
Lipoma removal is a surgical procedure, and should be done by a fully trained surgeon. Insurance companies can not dictate that a surgical procedure be done by non trained surgeon. It is beyond the scope of practice for a Physician assistant or Nurse practitioner to do surgery.
Probably, but I would advise using a board-certified surgeon such as a plastic surgeon for a procedure such as this. Lipomas can be tricky and it's hard to argue against the training and experience of a surgeon. What would be the disadvantage of using a surgeon?I hope that this helps and good luck,Dr. Alan EnglerMember of #RealSelf500
It is difficult to say how long recovery will be after resection of such a large lipoma in the neck area. Meticulous resection will reduce the time that it will take for serous drainage from the area to stop. Best to get guidance after an in person examination as there are many factors involved...
Lipomas are benign fatty tumors that occur under the skin and less commonly within the muscle. They are associated with mild discomfort and a lump underneath the skin. It is always best to talk to an expert plastic surgeon to determine whether the lipoma is possibly a cyst or a tumor or hernia....
Thank you for your post. It is best to go back and seek input from the surgeon who removed the lipoma. BestDr Karamanoukian#RealSef100 Member
