My patients return to the gym by the 21st day after breast surgery for activities like running, aerobics, and lower body weights. Most of my patients are more comfortable with upper body exercise by the 5th or 6th week. Always a good idea to check with your surgeon's protocol.Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author
After a breast lift or augmentation, it's crucial to follow your plastic surgeon's post-operative guidelines to ensure proper healing and avoid complications. Generally, most plastic surgeons recommend waiting at least 4-6 weeks before engaging in any strenuous activities, including rock climbing. Here's a typical timeline for resuming physical activities after breast surgery:1. First Week: Rest and minimal physical activity. Walking is encouraged to promote circulation but avoid any heavy lifting or strenuous activities.2. Weeks 2-3: Light activities may be resumed, but upper body movements should still be limited. Gentle stretching might be allowed, but avoid any exercise that strains the chest muscles.3. Weeks 4-6: Gradual reintroduction of more physical activities. Light cardio and lower body exercises might be permitted, but still avoid intense upper body exercises.4. After 6 Weeks: With your plastic surgeon's approval, you may start to slowly reintroduce more strenuous activities like rock climbing. It's important to start gradually and listen to your body, stopping if you experience any pain or discomfort.Keep in mind that everyone's healing process is different, so it's essential to have a follow-up consultation with your plastic surgeon to get recommendations based on your specific situation and progress.
Thank you for the question. The majority of patients who undergo the breast augmentation/lifting procedure will be able to return to full activity without restriction, over the long-term. Your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to return to specific activities. He/she will know exactly what was done and how you are progressing. In my opinion, very gradual and cautious return to activities help prevent problems; "listen to your body" as you do so. Having said that, most patients are able to drive approximately one week after surgery, engage in lower body exercises two weeks after surgery, lift more than 10 pounds 4 to 6 weeks after surgery, and run 4 to 6 weeks after surgery as well. In my practice, I ask patients to avoid contact and strenuous exercise involving the pectoralis major muscles ( such as push-ups, bench press, burpees, dancing on a pole…) for at least 3-6 months.Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.
Thanks for your question.WHat you are hearing is totally normal. There is fluid and air left behind in all breast augmentation surgeries. These swish past each other as you move immediately postoperatively and make the weird sounds. It resolves in 7-10 days.Just another note, when you go to...
Hi you have had a doughnut lift with an implant. Given that a doughnut lift attempts to reduce the excess skin only from a cut around the nipple there is always a gather around the stitches. This generally cases out. But given that besides the lift you have an implant the nipple scar is being ...
To be accused of and if you can prove that your discussions talked about a 'full lift', then you have grounds to have your surgeon fix the problem for not delivering what was 'promised' so you need to review your consultation and notes documented prior to your procedure. Hope it's legible and ...
