Loud sounds of crackling/popping: The noises came from the side of my breast.

Thanks for the question.Noises, such as crackling, popping and squishing, are common after breast augmentation. During surgery, the surgeon creates a breast pocket space. Initially, the space has a small amount of air and blood/serum inside it. When the implant moves in the pocket, noises can occur. The good news is that the fluid and air are absorbed in the first month or two and the noises go away.Good Luck!

It's not uncommon to have some air trapped in the breast pocket after the implant is placed leading to what you described. Best thing to do is contact your PS for an evaluation.  Good luck and hope this helps!  

In some patients, after a breast augmentation a "snap crackle pop" sound can happen, and be completely normal. Other times, this sound can be indicative of internal stitches that have broken due to over activity. It depends on what was done and how you look on exam. You should ask your surgeon, who can give you more clarity as he/she performed the surgery. Good luck.

It could be air moving or it could be internal stitches breaking. I'd suggest booking an appointment with your surgeon to be examined as soon as possible as only an in-person exam can determine whether there is an issue. Best of luck! 

That is a common concern.  Many women who have recently had breast implants placed will notice crackling and popping sounds. Some will say they hear sloshing or rubbing sounds. This is from the irrigation solution and air that is in the implant pocket but outside the implant.. That fluid and air will be reabsorbed by the body over several weeks. While what you are describing sounds quite normal, it would be a good idea to check with your surgeon.

Noises are common and can be a result of trapped air within the breast pocket after surgery or of a torn suture. It should resolve within a few weeks. However, it is always best to check with your plastic surgeon to make sure you are healing properly.

This is very unlikely something to be concerned about. Probably a small amount of residual air or fluid in the surgical space. If the breast has not become more swollen or changed in size or shape (noticeably) then nothing to worry about. If you feel something looks or feels different, best to stop in for a quick check with your surgeon

Thanks for your question.WHat you are hearing is totally normal.  There is fluid and air left behind in all breast augmentation surgeries.  These swish past each other as you move immediately postoperatively and make the weird sounds.  It resolves in 7-10 days.Just another note, when you go to higher altitudes (ie. skiing/hiking), it may reappear even 10 years later.  This sound disappears a day or two at normal altitude again.  Nothing to worry about.Good luck with your continued healing.Dr T
