I have a dent in the middle of my forehead is it a tissue deficiency? Possible to fix with fat grafting?

Hi I have a vertical dent on the middle of my forehead I never had any injuries that I know of it has been more noticeable as I’m getting older I’m 21 and it’s just super bothersome is there any permanent solution ? I don’t want Botox But is there any other ways like fat grafting ? Is it permanent?

These types of forehead soft tissue deficiencies are common, and can be improved with injectable fillers (the most predictable and reliable option for this area in my opinion), fat grafting, and other options like Sculptra. Fat grafting is a good option, but fat grafting can be somewhat unpredictable with respect to how much resorption occurs over time. An additional issue with fat grafting is the possibility of lumpiness or irregularities that may be difficult to correct post-operatively. There are risks and benefits of each procedure.Be sure to see an expert who specializes in facial aesthetic procedures to review all of the treatment options in detail.Best,

Hi Uri,Great question.  It is possible to place fat in the forehead, but you need an in-person evaluation with a fat grafting expert to see if this would be appropriate for your issue.  And yes, the improvement with fat grafting is permanent; however, bone and soft tissue changes over time as you age may necessitate additional treatments.Best wishes,Dr. Jay

Since the dent is likely soft tissue in origin, it should be treated with a soft tissue filler approach. Fat injections, while not always reliable, is a reasonable treatment approach.
