Hello and thank you for your question...Yes, fat can be transferred to the ankles and calves. I have patients that complain about skinny ankles which makes them self conscious when wearing dresses that show their ankles. The risk of lumpiness or pitting is a possibility although it is very rare when fat injection is done correctly. I hope this helps and wish you the best of luck in your search! Please make sure you are being evaluated by a board certified plastic surgeon!
Fat can be transferred virtually anywhere. Is this for a cosmetic or reconstructive concern? I'm not aware of many requests for bigger ankles but there is a growing body of data that shows fat grafting can improve the quality of skin / wounds even in areas previously considered to be "off limits" for grafting. It would be helpful to know more about your concerns / wishesSeek out a board certified member of ASPS / ASAPS for your consultation and work.
Yes, you can have fat transfer to this area. Keep in mind, fat transfer technique is important for successful fat transfer. I recommend water-assisted fat harvesting which gives pure fat to transfer and combine with platelet rich plasma (PRP) to get the most viable and sustainable fat cells. I then combined with Sculptra (depending on area) to improve final results. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
