The two larger components of facial aging is loosening of the skin and loss of fat so to truly make someone's appearance more youthful both of those concerns should be addressed. It is easier for most patients to recover from two procedures at the same time instead of individually. The answer to your question is it depends. Generally speaking patients are better candidate for Fed transfer if they don’t have a lot of skin laxity. A facelift can thin out some of the fat layer in the face, especially in front of the ear. This always happen and it’s less common if the facelift is done by a skilled provider. In order for fat transfer to be successful, it is preferable to have as much post issue as possible to support grafted fat.
It’s fairly common for a plastic surgeon to do some facial fat grafting in conjunction with a facelift.
