Is facial fat transfer more difficult to perform or less likely to succeed after a previous facelift? Is there a reason to have these procedures done at the same time initially other than the recovery time involved?

No, fat transfer after a facelift offers no unique challenges. One should wait a few months after a facelift, however, unless the fat is being transferred during a facelift (which is totally permissible).

No, it is not unless there has been extensive scar tissue as a complication of facelift.  They are generally combined to minimize procedure time and recovery

Hi, I routinely perform facial fat grafting simultaneous with the face lift. The two larger components of facial aging is loosening of the skin and loss of fat so to truly make someone's appearance more youthful both of those concerns should be addressed. It is easier for most patients to recover from two procedures at the same time instead of individually. It certainly can be performed after a facelift but it should be identified whether it is needed before any surgical intervention for better planning. Best of luck.

The answer to your question is it depends. Generally speaking patients are better candidate for Fed transfer if they don’t have a lot of skin laxity. A facelift can thin out some of the fat layer in the face, especially in front of the ear. This always happen and it’s less common if the facelift is done by a skilled provider. In order for fat transfer to be successful, it is preferable to have as much post issue as possible to support grafted fat.
It’s fairly common for a plastic surgeon to do some facial fat grafting in conjunction with a facelift.
Your candidacy for the procedure, but more so choosing the most experienced in challages providers are variable that are far more important and applicable.
