Blood test results - should I be concerned?

Question

Hello! I have my breast augmentation surgery scheduled for the 9th of November and naturally, I'm very excited! I just got my blood test results today though, and some of the results were a little low with WBC at 4.1 and Hct at 36 while PTT was 15.9 sec. Should I be concerned, or is this within the norm? My cycle ended this morning, and I had the tests done this afternoon, so not sure if that impacts it. It is my first surgery, so am a bit nervous about these things! Thanks in advance!

Without knowing your complete medical history, it would be difficult to say if the abnormal values were clinically significant.  I would review your results with your surgeon and primary medical doctor, and they can guide you further.

Hello Annenonymous,No reason to be nervous, that is exactly why your surgeon ordered the tests, to make sure nothing is out of order before proceeding with surgery. Looking at numbers alone does not really provide a full picture of a patient's overall status. I recommend you discuss any concerns with your board-certified plastic surgeon who will be able to review your results in detail. Good luck with surgery!!!

every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

Your surgeon's office will let you know for sure, but the first two results are not a problem. Be sure to avoid any aspirin products and green tea and other types of blood thinners.

Your blood test results are a just one piece of the puzzle to ensure your safety.  As you report these lab results to your surgeon She/He will add them to the puzzle to make sure your surgical plans and safety measures are in place for you. Each plastic surgeon has developed an individual surgical protocol based upon training and clinical experience. This includes interpretation of laboratory results. 
In our practice, these results would not contraindicate surgery. 
It would be wise to contact your surgeon and ask if the results are acceptable.
