Will chin implant or sliding genioplasty give me the best result? (Photo)

Question

I’ve always had a very round face and a weak chin that have bothered me since my teenage years. I have now decided to get it done but I can’t figure out if a chin implant or sliding genioplasty will be the best option for me? I’m 25 years old and live in Denmark. Sliding genioplasty is not very widespread here in Denmark so it’s not easy to find a surgeon with good experience with both methods. Thanks in advance!

A formal evaluation would be needed to determine what's best. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, so we perform a non-surgical chin augmentation treatment with injectable fillers. While both chin augmentation methods can be done they produce slightly different aesthetic results. The sliding genioplasty is better for you as your chin needs to come both forward and up and also keeps your chin narrow from the front view. A chin implant can be used but it would have to be custom designed to ensure the right dimensional changes occur while still keeping your chin narrow. Computer imaging needs to be done to help yo determine the exact dimensions of your chin augmentation that you prefer.

Either works but the key in your case is the frontal view. You have a petite shape so genioplasty performed with consideration of the entire jawline to avoid 'dips' behind the chin would allow you to keep your chin shape. An implant does not.
