Hello! I'm writing to seek other opinions. I had noticed that post-operatively many rhinoplasty patients have a very rotated nose tip, however I didn't have this after my procedure. I'm 7 months out and still swollen, but I'm wondering if that should be a concern, or if it is not always necessary to do? Thanks!
Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello! Thank you for your question. As far as I can understand from your question 7 months is not enough to see the final result. The swelling stays according to your skin. If you have thick skin you might have swelling for much longer time. Best Regards!

Answer: Rotation of the nasal tip during rhinoplasty: Rotation of the nasal tip during rhinoplasty: elevation or upward rotation of the nasal tip is a common part of a routine rhinoplasty. When the tip is elevated it often appears slightly over rotated or elevated early on and comes to settle into a slightly lower position as the weeks and months go by. Whether or not to elevate the tip, and how much to elevated is a matter of Choice and it’s not a requirement, per se ,of rhinoplasty. If you like your tip position as it is, nothing needs to be done. If you want your tip higher, it is usually something that only a revision can achieve. Sometimes however there is scar tissue buildup in the area above the tip called the supratip which makes the tip look lower. If that is the case injection of steroid to the supratip area can create more definition above the tip and create the effect of a slightly higher tip. Your tip however will not rotate upwards on its own if a more upward rotated tip is what you are seeking.

Answer: Swelling after rhinoplasty Hi and welcome to our forum! A rhinoplasty is a complex procedure made up of many components. Some patients require special attention to certain aspects of their nose and, as a result, their postoperative swelling may differ from yours. The procedure is quite traumatic as the skin and soft tissues of the nose are stripped from underlying nasal musculature and bone, the nasal bones are broken, partially removed, and repositioned, and the nasal cartilages are exposed, trimmed, and repositioned. Healing involves the process of inflammation which causes swelling (providing nutrition to the healing tissue). The swelling will initially totally obscure the operative result. It will take 12-18 months for the swelling to subside. The nasal tip is notorious for taking the longest time to heal. One cannot compare one's early post surgical photos with another's as swelling differs significantly! Be patient... Best wishes...
