What should I eat after liposuction? (Photos)

My practice provides a post-op checklist encouraging patients to incorporate more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein (100 grams/day)  into their diets, while reducing the intake of sugars, simple carbohydrates, and saturated fats.  My patients find that they can satisfy the recommended 100 grams of protein a day and also boost their energy by drinking 3 hormone free protein shakes, each of which contains 30 grams of protein, 1 gram of sugar, 3 grams of fat, and 24 vitamins and minerals.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Hi, Thank you for your post. Congratulations on your liposuction. I would follow up with your surgeon to see what they recommend for a diet after surgery. Generally my patients eat a diet high in fiber and protein. It is also helpful to take vitamins. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids. 

After liposuction, it’s important to focus on a balanced and nutritious diet to support healing. Opt for foods rich in vitamins, minerals, and protein. Include lean proteins like chicken or fish, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats. Stay hydrated and consult your healthcare provider for recommendations based on your specific recovery needs.

For me, there aren’t any food restrictions after liposuction. What you should focus on is eating a balanced diet and living a healthy lifestyle.
Basically, you should eat foods that are rich in fiber and protein. Vitamins A, C, and E are also beneficial. You should also drink lots of fluids to aid your healing process. You should even include fats in your diet, as long as they’re healthy fats.
Always make sure that you attend you follow-up checkups with your experienced and board-certified plastic surgeon.
