Thank you for your question. It takes approximately 2 weeks for the full effects of Botox to show, especially when injected into a large muscle such as the masseter. I would wait the full 2 weeks before making a definitive comparison between the sides. That being said it is not at all uncommon to have one side which is larger than the other. This is secondary to several factors, but does not necessarily mean there is anything wrong with your Botox treatment. You may simply may need a booster dose on this side which is more active. The sure you are consulting with a board certified injector who has experience with Botox injections, specifically in the masseter muscle.I hope that this helps!–David Gilpin
It's difficult to tell from your picture. Keep in mind, it can take 1-2 weeks for final results with Botox. If necessary, a touch-up of Botox can improve asymmetry. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. Botox to slim the masseter muscles can take several weeks to show a noticeable change and your results have likely not taken effect as yet. Hang in there and allow at least 4-6 weeks to pass before assessing your results.
The full effect from a Botox treatment can take 1-2 weeks to occur. When used in the masseter muscle, the slimming effect takes even longer to occur, so I would not be concerned with your results 6 days after the treatment.
It doesn't work in just 6 days......It takes a whole lot longer for the muscle to atrophy. You must be seeing something else. You should see your injector for a full evaluation of the cause.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO
The first thing to note is that you should allow 10-14 days to see the effects of any Botox injection. Second it is important to note that the face slimming benefit of Botox is gained from the potential long term atrophy of the masseter muscles and not directly related to the short term relaxation from Botox. It is unlikely that the effects are taking place at different rates but in any case it is too soon to evaluate that possibility. There are several factors such as injection depth, angle, volume, and concentration that may play varying roles in evaluating the end result..While you may see some apparent reduction in the short term from the Botox the true reduction from atrophy will take 6-8 months before it is observed.Dr. Berdy
I would recommend waiting at least 2 weeks to see relaxation effect of the initial injections of Botox before deciding on further need for Botox. The larger master will probably need a larger number of units of Botox to equalize the appearance between both sides, but we should wait until maximal effect of first treatment before deciding.
I would leave it alone. From what I can see you look beautiful....don't over analyze. The difference is barely perceptible in the photos you have provided.
6 days is not long enough to determine the results from masseter injection. It is amazing you see any difference at 6 days and give it at least 2 weeks to see what it will look like. It is not unusual for one side to taper faster as the masseters are not exact replicas of each other
In this industry and in this day and age everyone wants it now, our body does not succumb to this mentality. Muscles take the time they take. Botox takes 10 days to paralyze smaller weaker muscles in the face, the masseter is a stronger muscle in comparison so it will logically take more time. Just be patient. Cheers from Palm Beach
Thank you for your question. From the description, you probably had a small amount of bleeding under the skin from the injection and that is what is causing the lump you are feeling. This is fairly common after injections, it should go away on its own within a week or so. If it persists I would...
I would not be too concerned. Even though it is hard to see in the picture, it is likely a bruise, hyperemic reaction (increased blood flow to an area) or it is possible if an anesthetic was used that it can cause some blanching. Either way it is self-limited. But do not be afraid to return...
Hi audrao, I have extensive experience in Botox and have used it for some medical conditions but I have never used it to treat psoriasis. Psoriasis, an autoimmune disease is an inflammatory response and a documented study showed that Botox injections did help improve conditions...
