Posterior repair and Perineorrhaphy

Question

I am scheduled for the procedures above on 10/29. I had my Pre-Op appt this morning. My Gh measurement is a 4 based off the POP-Q assessment tool. My Dr said that the normal is 3 but the POP-Q website says 2 is a normal. I've added a picture for reference. My measurements are left and the normal is right. Is 3 what all doctors aim for? Will this restore my vagina to pre-birth? I'm self conscious and experienced self doubt for a few years wondering if I was "loose". I want to feel confident again

POP-Q is a system for quantifying prolapse based on how much descent is present at various points along the vagina. There is nothing in that system that measures vaginal laxity (aka looseness) and it is not used to determine how tight to make your vagina. So, if your surgeon is doing an operation to cure prolapse, but nothing to address vaginal laxity, your looseness is not going to be improved regardless of whether it's a 3, a 4 , or anything else. The procedure that addresses vaginal laxity is called a vaginoplasty and it can be done in conjunction with prolapse surgery, but it is not a prolapse procedure.

Thanks. As a surgeon I would suggest that the emphasis is assessment and treatment of self-consciousness and self-confidence. I don’t think the repairs can necessarily fix that however my first vaginoplasty about 20 years ago was done in this type of case. Therefore 2 /3 are arbitrary numbers and May be slightly subjective assessment although it’s designed to be objective. I suggest you discuss your confidence issues with all those involved and be realistic about outcome measure(ments)
