Ways to improve nasojugal groove/tear trough in addition to nasolabial fold? (photo)

Hi, I'm 19 and have noticed the development of a tear through under my right cheekbone as well as the elongation of my nasolabial fold. I have set up an appointment with a dermatologist however that isn't until march 30th and I was hoping in the meantime to see what opinions other doctors have so I'm not going off of just one persons opinion. It's difficult to see from your photos, but nasolabial folds can be improved with fillers for the folds themselves and to provide anatomical support with Sculptra for collagen building. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

This is a good question especially since you are only 19.  You have the beginnings of aging in the midface.  Due to your loss of volume in the midface, the nasolabial fold is also increasing. This is occurring on your right side sooner than on the left.  At this young age, I would recommend Fat transfer over an implant first.  This would solve the flatness in the cheek.  Both cheeks can be contoured at the same time.  This would also improve the nasolabial fold.  Fillers are a good option but would have to be maintained (repeated).  That is the downside to using fillers.  At your age, fat transfer would be the best alternative.  I hope this helps.

Both areas can be improved with synthetic fillers or fat transfer. Most fillers last 6 to 12 months. Longer lasting fillers have increased risk of lumps when place near the eye area. Fat transfer is very long lasting but has more initial swelling.

Advise you to consult with a board certified dermatologist for a formal evaluation but sometimes a bit of filler in the tear troughs can be helpful to hide the shadowing the develops here. This is an advanced area to fill and there is a lot of important anatomy here so make sure to see someone with experience filling this area.
