Colonic hydro cleanse before tummy tuck?

I don't see why you couldn't get a cleanse before surgery as long as you are not dehydrated... but check with your surgeon.

With your history a colonic hydro cleanse 3 or 4 days before the date of surgery, a low residue diet 2 days before the date of the surgery and a Fleets Enema the night before surgery would be advantageous. This is my opinion. Please do check with your surgeon if this recommendation does not go contrary to his/her instructions.

I personally would not recommend having a colonic hydro cleanse before tummy tuck surgery.  It could alter your electrolytes, which could potentially lead to serious complications (relating to the general anesthetic, prolonged recovery, arrhythmias, etc.).  Narcotic pain medication can lead to constipation following surgery, so I recommended discussing with your surgeon and taking a stool softener if needed at that time.Best, Stephanie Power MD, MSc, FRCSC

Each PS will have their own protocol to decompress the bowels prior to surgery.  You should ask your PS if colonic treatment is appropriate for you.
