Would I be a good candidate for a rhinoplasty? Currently have a wide, thick and crooked nose (photo)

Thank you for your question.I have tried to evaluate your case from the photo you provided but for a better evaluation I would need more photos.Anyway your nose looks wide and your skin looks thick. It is possible to perform a rhinoplasty surgery (but we also need to check your medical condition first). You will probably need cartilage reconstruction especially for the tip.Best regards!

Thank you for your question. You are an excellent candidate for rhinoplasty. I think it is one of the most beautifying surgeries that we do as plastic surgeons. A large portion of my practice is dedicated to rhinoplasty surgery. it is important to only see plastic surgeons with extensive experience in rhinoplasty, ie perform at least 6 per month and have performed hundreds of cases. In your case, you want a make sure that your surgeon has experience with ethnic rhinoplasties and thick skin. The incision in open rhinoplasty heals almost always invisibly. Also, critically evaluate on-line galleries to see if their art form resonates with yours. Rhinoplasty is definitely a grey haired plastic surgeon's sport. Best wishes to you.

Reduction Rhinoplasty
Reduction rhinoplasty is the term used for making a big nose smaller. However it can have many components.
1. Large as in sticking out on side view.
2. Large as in big tip
3. Wide nostrils
4. Wide bones in the front view.
5. Dorsal hump making it look big.
All these can be addressed together or separately depending on the individual situation.

Even if you have thick skin the photo you sent indicates that you could get a dramatic improvement with rhinoplasty. I would perform surgery such as yours expecting a nice result even if it’s not perfect

Your thick skin hides any minor asymmetries that could occur from surgery, but it does make changes more difficult to see, and I think you recognize that by your question.

See a surgeon comfortable with such situations, but improvement is certainly achievable.

Based on the one limited photograph, a rhinoplasty can accomplish narrowing and straightening the bridge line, and reducing the size of your nostrils with an alar-plasty. A full set of photographs from all angles would be required to make a better determination. You have thick skin in the nasal tip area, so it's also important to have realistic expectations
