Can damaged septal cartilage grafts be removed, reshaped and reused?

Question

I accidentally bumped my cheek on the screen door a day after my rhinoplasty, and may have damaged a graft because I can't breathe. Can the doctor re-use that graft that I damaged?

Hi, It is better for you to consult with your facial plastic surgeon who can examine you and give you opinion based on examination.

It depends on the quality of the cartilage graft that was placed. If you only bumped your cheek, it is unlikely that you damaged any graphs in your nose. If you're early postoperative, less than two months, your nasal blockage could be due to swelling. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Hello and thank you for your question.  Generally speaking, grafts can be reused. But much more important than that, I would recommend being evaluated in person by your surgeon. The breathing difficult could just be due to swelling as well.
