Laser resurfacing continues to be an excellent option for acne scars. Deeper ice pick scars respond well to TCA Cross. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
I suggest you consult a board certified facial plastic surgeonto receive the highest quality knowledge, treatment, care and skill available. The consultation will allow you to relay your concerns and desires to the surgeon while the surgeon, in turn, utilizes your health profile and personal preference to determine which procedure suits you best. Traditionally, the ideal patient for skin resurfacing has fair, healthy, non-oily skin. But,newer laser techniques now allow us to safely and effectively treat evenpatients with darker skin tones such as olive, brown, or black skin.
I often combine laser resurfacing with TCA cross at the same time. You need a cosmetic dermatologist who specializes in acne scarring/pigmentation and does a combination of treatments including: surgery, subcision, or TCA cross for deep or pitted "ice pick" scars; fillers like Bellafill or Sculptra or Radiesse for broad "boxcar" or "rolling" scars; Eclipse Micropen for all types of scars and improvement in texture and tone; lasers such as co2 laser resurfacing or Fraxel/Clear+Brilliant or radiofrequency such as Venus Viva to improve the scars and give long term collagen production. There are many options but you want someone who can customize a regimen for your short and long term goals based on your individual situation. Best, Dr. Emer.
I do not think this is a choice of which comes first. I think it is more a question of a which one will treat your concerns better, which is best for your skin type, which is better for your allowable downtime, or which one you prefer. In my practice, I prefer laser resurfacing. I feel I get a more predictable depth of treatment with laser. Chemical peels are based on concentration, time, and/or number of passes and are less predictable in my opinion. A good laser resurfacing treatment would be my recommendation if it is appropriate for your skin type. Good luck! For more information on laser resurfacing, please visit the link below.
Melasma may be worsened by pregnancy. I would wait until you have delivered your child before beginning any elective cosmetic regimen. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
Once again we can not give a definitive explanation without more history and a clinical exam. It may represent CUTIS APLASIA. The cure is relatively simple given the location and size. A Plastic or Dermatological surgeon can excise the area and join up the hair bearing areas. All the bestDr...
Thank you for your question. I would recommend to start using hydroquinone 4% morning and night six weeks prior to laser treatment. Fractional treatment is very effective for suppressing discoloration and evening out skintone. Skinpen which is a microneedling device that would also be bene...
