Thank you for your question. If you are starting to feel more symptoms with your birth mark, I would recommend visiting with a specialist, namely a dermatologist.  They would be able to make sure there is nothing to be concerned about and diagnose the type of birth mark you have.

There are many different types of "birth marks" and they are classified into pigmented lesions and vascular lesions.  It is difficult to diagnosis these without seeing them and the management can be different for each type, locations, and size of lesions.  However, in general, if any lesion, mark, or lump on your body is changing color or size and definitely if it is becoming symptomatic, you should have it evaluated by a certified physician that is comfortable treating these lesions such as a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.  In your case, they would be able to diagnose the mark, let you know if your symptoms are worrisome, and provide you with removal/treatment options if available and desired by you.
