I got the procedure done to hopefully help tighten my lower face because I have slightly chubby cheeks in the jowl area. I'm just a little worried because now I'm thinking maybe I should've just done the buccal fat removal instead? I was told at the surgeon's office that I didn't need to have fat removed and that Facetite should be enough to give me the results I want. What are your opinions?
Answer: FaceTite vsersus buccal fat removal to thin the mid-lower face. Mid to lower face fullness and excessive width is determined by several factors:inherent facial shape - determined primarily by underlying facial skeleton architecture thicker than average subcutaneous fat deposits larger than average buccal fat pads - contribute primarily to volume in the submalar area hypertrophic (enlarged) masseter muscles high BMI FaceTite can be used to reduce the subcutaneous fibrofatty layer thickness and tighten redundant skin through the jowl region. Hypertrophic masseter muscles can be reduced using neuromodulators (Botox, etc.) and may be of some benefit in your situation. Buccal fat excision will reduce volume primarily in the submalar region (area below and adjacent to the cheekbone) but will have little impact on the jowl region, therefore, in your case will likely not reduce the volume of the lower cheek and jowl region. Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: FaceTite vs. buccal fat removal It is difficult to give you the best advice without seeing you or at least seeing photographs of you. FaceTite is used to help tighten sagging skin and it can help to reduce fat to a degree. Buccal fat removal will only remove fat and not accomplish any tightening. I generally discourage people from having buccal fat removal, because this fat usually goes down as people age. If it is removed when you are young, it can lead to premature aging of the face later.

Answer: Tightening the skin If you were looking to tighten the skin, the combination of microneedling with RF(Infini) with FaceTite will help to do this. If it was one discreet area within the buccal region that you were looking to treat then a buccal fat removal may have been more appropriate. Difficult to say without getting more information or seeing photos.
