Excessive FaceTite bruising? This seems more than minor. (Photo)

Question

My photo below is 3 days post FaceTite surgery. Performed by a very reputable, experienced surgeon in my area. Was told minor bruising was possible, but this seems more than minor. Post-op appointment is in 2 days. Should I be concerned?

I would not be concerned.  See your surgeon and review your concerns. Bruising and swelling varies amongst patients. In cases where liposuction is combined with facetite swelling can be more significant.

Bruising is variable and based on a number of factors including medications and personal history of bruising.  That being said, the amount of bruising in your photo is within the range of what is expected.  We tell our patients to expect bruising for a week. I would suggest seeing your plastic surgeon for an in person evaluation.   The good news is that it does resolve.  If you wanted to try to cover it, I would suggest a make-up specially made to cover medical issues like Dermablend.  Most Macys or Dillards carry this line but call ahead and see if you can get someone to color match you for best results.  I hope you get a great result from your procedure. -Dr. Janiga

Bruising, although usually minimal, can happen to anyone after FaceTite. There are a variety of factors that can increase your chances of bruising including medications, how easily you bruise in general, and how aggressive the technician operating the device is. The good news is that this is self limiting and should resolve within the week. Hope this helps.

Looking at your result, that the bruising is typical for 3 days out. I see less bruising with FaceTite than liposuction alone, but it can still occur. Rest assured, but visit your plastic surgeon for a follow-up today to make sure.

Your bruising is not particularly unusual for FaceTite. I have noted this with a few of our FaceTite patients, however this bruising seems to resolve very rapidly. Use of products such as arnica and bromelain also helps with bruising as well.
