Delivering consistent quality, liposuction, results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons have truly mastered this procedure are in a small minority. Being board-certified and plastic surgery with years of experience, and an overall good reputation does not mean somebody has mastered any one single procedure especially not Liposuction. Correcting poorly done, Liposuction is difficult and often not possible. The chance for improvement depends on the number of variables, including the patient’s candidacy for Liposuction in the first place, how aggressive the previous procedures were, and how uneven the fat layer was left. Treatment options typically come down to Revision Liposuction, (removing more fat) fat transfer, or a combination of both. Sometimes converting the procedure to a skin tightening operation like a tummy tuck. If the problem is on the lower abdomen may be a reasonable approach. To make a quality assessment regarding the outcome of a plastic surgery procedure we always need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures, then ask your previous two surgeons to forward the pictures they took. Anybody who tells you that correcting poorly done Liposuction is easy is probably not the right provider. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of provider selection when it comes to Liposuction. Doing this procedure. Well, it’s far more difficult than most people recognize.Defined the right provider whether it’s for Primary Liposuction or Revision Work I suggest patients start the process by having multiple in person, consultations with plastic surgeons, who seem to do a lot of liposuction work. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body characteristics to your own. An experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. Highly experienced surgeons should in fact have hundreds or thousands of before and after pictures to choose from. Being shown a handful of preselected images, representing the best results of a providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of each provider. Revision work is many times more difficult than primary liposuction, and it is also not nearly as common. Your situation is complex and definitely requires in person consultations to get a good assessment. Please get proper before and after pictures and copies of your previous operative reports if you don’t have them already. You can get them by asking your previous providers to forward them to you. your pictures are limited and we can’t make a good assessment whether there’s room for improvement or if you were a candidate for liposuction in the first place.
