Hello in July 2018 I had both upper and lower blepharolasty and facelift. The wrinkles around my eyes is dominant....especially when I smile. I'm really disappointed. After spending thousands I feel no better about my appearance. I hate to spend more money to go under the knife. Debating if I should do skin surfacing but not sure what type (there seems to be many), the cost and how long the results may last. I'm open to any ideas so feel free to express your thoughts.

Answer: I'm concerned about the wrinkles around my eyes after upper and lower blepharoplasty and face lift. Need help understanding? These types of wrinkles around the eyes are caused by contraction of your eyelid muscles when you smile. No type of surgical correction can make these go away. They can be softened by using temporary muscle weakening with neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport or Xeomin. Resurfacing alone will not eliminate these lines, but if used after repeated, regular use of neuromodulators, it will soften them to some degree.

Answer: Dynamic lines Your surgical result appears to be reasonable at rest. As a matter of fact, all surgeries are done with the person at rest and not animating. These are dynamic muscle lines accentuated by muscle movement. When you smile and animate, the tendency to have these lines will always be present. Think about it this way. If I didn't like the way my elbow wrinkled with it extended and wanted all that "excess skin" removed surgically with it extended, what would happen when I try to flex my elbow. Likewise, if you were able convince a doctor to remove those dynamic wrinkles surgically by pulling tighter, how would the result look when the face is relaxed. You might want to try botox first and then if the wrinkles are still not to your liking, then resurfacing. Otherwise, it looks like your result at rest is reasonable.
