3 weeks post deep plane face/neck lift--mouth stretched and pulled down. How can I fix this?

Question

I had a longish upper lip and minor marionette lines. My surgeon said that the lift would improve the downward turn of the outer lip corners and, for the first couple of weeks post that seemed to be the case. But now that swelling is reduced, the opposite has happened, with the mouth appearing more downturned, wider and altogether lower on my face. My previously squarish jaw is now 'v' shaped, adding to the unattractive width of the new stretched mouth. When can i fix this(bullhorn/valentine)?

At three weeks it is too soon to know what your final result will be. Posting before and after pictures would help in giving an opinion. Be sure to discuss your concerns with your surgeon and continue to follow all post operative instructions. Good luck.

Hello.  Thank you for your question.  It is impossible to make any assessment of your concerns without pictures.  It would be helpful to have before and after pictures for comparison.  You are still very early in the healing process following surgery, and likely still have some residual swelling that may be distorting things a bit.  There will be a progressive reduction in soft tissue swelling and some relaxation of the tightness along the jawline over the following weeks and months that will change the appearance of things as you heal.  You must be patient with this process.  It is way too early to make any assessment of your results at this time.  I would, however, encourage you to discuss your concerns with your primary surgeon and allow them to assess your healing and make certain that everything is progressing normally.  They may be able to reassure you and make you feel more comfortable with the healing process.  I wish you the best in your recovery and achieving your aesthetic goals.

Thank you for sending your question. Facelift surgery is one of my favourite procedures. It is too early to think about any intervention or revision after three weeks only. My sincere advice is  to discuss this with your surgeon. It will definitely help if you could send some before and after photos to offer detailed advice.

Could you please post a photo for review? You are likely still swollen in the deep tissues so I would encourage patience. It’s possible that when swelling goes down proportionally, you may better appreciate the situation.
