I have a cracked molar (fractured cusp) along with a vertical crack running down the middle. Crack is from having a large filling. Dentist says my roots are healthy, but is unsure of treatment. He suggests a crown, but because of the way my tooth is cracked, he can't guarantee I won't have issues with it down the road. I am now experiencing bad breath, so I am assuming there is decay within the crack. Should I have it pulled? Get the crown and hope it works? Money is also an issue.

If your dentist is stating that he can not do anymore or not willing to coerect the issue, then perhaps you need to consult with another dentist that focuses on cosmetic dentistry (an AACD dentist) and replace you new crown. Unfortunately, a new crown is the only way to change to a brighter...
Each case varies on protocol. If you are having a crown placed on the tooth in a following appointment then this is just another routine part of the procedure.
There are crowns made for teeth and crowns specifically made for implants. they are custom made and only work once. Once the tooth underneath breaks down, another crown must be made to be an accurate fit. Anything else would be substandard.
