QUESTIONS ANSWERED

The answer is to make your front teeth longer and more prominent. This way when you smile, the upper lip will "roll up" and show your teeth. This can be accomplished by laminating your front teeth.

You did not show a photo of your smile in a frontal position. Therefore, it is hard to tell what your teeth look like.

It appears that the midline and the horizontal bite plane are both slightly off. Is the first photo from a different set of teeth? Because the face looks symmetrical there.

Unfortunately, the answer is still the bridge needs to be redone to correct the bite plane and midline issue.

How should I fix my crooked mouth? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Looking at the second photo, I noticed that the midline of your upper and lower teeth do not line up. The lower teeth's midline appears to skew to one side by about 1 1/2 mm. Perhaps your teeth are misaligned. Every time when you close your teeth together, the jaw automatically skews to side where the teeth are aligned.

My advise is to visit an orthodontist. He/she can properly look at your teeth to determine whether this problem can be fixed by braces.

If your objection is the length of your upper teeth in general, perhaps you can consider simply having them contoured. X-rays have to be taken first to see where the nerves are located. With slight contouring, the teeth can be shortened and squared off. That will make your face look fuller.

Typically, an indelible pencil is used to mark how much tooth structure should be removed to see the desired effect. Sometimes simply removing 1 mm of the length is sufficient. The lateral incisors can be slightly shorter than the central incisors to give a more youthful look.

You look like you have crowded teeth. The upper lateral incisors and the canines look like they are protruded and the central incisors look retruded(facing in). The lower canines are crowded and protruded. Generally, there is not enough room for the teeth to be aligned. Probably should consult with an orthodontist.

The only thing that I see when you smile showing your teeth is that your upper front central incisors are slightly crooked. Otherwise, the teeth follow the curvature of your lower lip, which constitutes a good smile.

Maybe just get the central incisors straightened, by having Invisalign for a few months.

Hi,

Your question appears vague.  Are you referring to the upper right lateral incisor which has a darkened appearance around the gumline? It also has a more concave appearance at the gum area.  Or, are you referring to the general appearance of your smile? Also, a photo of a smile without your finger skewing the lips will help the doctor to assess your smile better.

In regard to the upper right lateral incisor, perhaps you can consider a soft tissue grafting procedure where a piece of the connective tissue can be harvested from your palate and placed over the deficient gum over the implant. It would improve the appearance of the deficient gum over the implant.

Because you are young, it is more important for you to repair the bone and have implants placed for your missing lateral incisors.  As you grow older, the bone only becomes thinner and teeth more likely will shift.  That will change your profile even more.  Doing bridgework requires drilling down the adjacent teeth.  Bridgework will need to be redone after so many years, causing more damage to the adjacent teeth.

The road to implant supported restoration is a long one, perhaps a year, with great expense.  But it is worth it.

You may be able to fix this problem with minor Invisalign treatment, followed by a minor gum contouring procedure.

Usually the misalignment is due to minor crowding.  This crowding can be corrected by pushing out the adjacent teeth from the protruded front tooth slightly and retracting the protruded tooth slightly inward.

Once this is accomplished, the gum around the originally protruded tooth can be contoured slightly to match the adjacent central incisor.

If there is sufficient space behind the upper front teeth, a permanent retainer can be made so the teeth won't move.

Absolutely your smile will be improved with porcelain veneers.  I think eight teeth should be done to completely change your smile.  When people smile, usually they display eight teeth.  When all eight teeth are done, you will have a full smile.

Love my New Smile

Dr. Chiu is the best dentist I have ever been to. She spent a lot of time patiently explaining the issues I have had over the years in my mouth and how to treat them. It took a while to get my mouth in shape but I am so thankful that she was able to treat all of my teeth problems herself instead of sending me to various specialists. Her attention to detail is simply outstanding. I am so happy with my implants and my new smile. Thank You Dr. Chiu
