Did I comprise anything by coughing 8 months after TT and MR?

Question

I am about 8mo po from my tt with mr. everything has been great. I just got a cold a few days ago and now have this terrible and uncontrollable cough. I’m concerned that the cough may compromise my MR. is this possible at this point? What is the likelihood this can happen and what would it feel like? My tummy feels sore, but I think that may be muscle soreness from the coughing...or maybe I popped a stitch...I don’t know. I’ve reached out to my PS, but figured I’d also post on here!

Thanks for your question.Soreness with coughing is normal even after 8 months since tummy tuck with muscle repair. It is not likely that some damage has been done to your repair this later after surgery, but it is always better to check with your plastic surgeon.

Thanks for your inquiry, it is highly unlikely you hurt your muscle repair from coughing 8 months out,  but if you are not feeling less pain quickly, discuss with your surgeon, good luck.

Coughing would be highly unlikely to affect your tummy tuck at eight months post op.  The sore muscles may be related to coughing but not a direct indication that anything is wrong with your abdominoplasty.  I hope you feel better soon!

Very unlikely. Generally speaking, it is difficult to disrupt a well performed abdominal wall plication by coughing (especially 8 months postop). If this does occur, it is usually associated with significant discomfort, swelling, and/or bruising.
