What would be the best frequency for PRP Injections?

There're different opinions regarding this.I read that some Doctors recommend one procedure in only 3 weeks others one PRP every 30 days, every 45 days and even longer. I'm 49 old woman in perimenopausic period on vitamins for more than 4 months and finasteride 2 mg for 50 days. I had my first PRP a month ago. I shed less hair than before but I can see my scalp more . May be it did not pass enough time to see good results. So, what d be the best frequency for PRP in the scalp in your opinion? Thanks

There really is no consensus regarding the frequency of getting PRP's for the purpose of decreasing the risk of hair loss and potentially promoting growth.  I have seen different recommendations from once every few weeks to once or twice a year.  In our practice we recommend a series of six treatments done once every six weeks followed by a four month "holiday."  That makes the entire process last about a year.  After that, if there has been acceptable results we continue with further treatments every three to four months.  In any event understand that it can take several months to see any results from the PRP treatments. Good luck to you!

First to note, visible hair growth is typically observed about 8-10 weeks after your first PRP treatment. As far as frequency is discussed, many offices will propose different time frames for PRP treatments and with regards to which is most accurate, research is still limited to prove best frequencies. The most important goal with PRP treatment for a first-time patient is that there is persistent stimulation to the scalp in order to maintenance and continue hair growth improvement. There is no right or wrong here there are no official guidelines.  typically we do monbthly for 6 treatments then every 2-3 months forever. some people do less but i feel it doesnt work as well then.  we often combine PRP with a cell stem cells, as this gives better results for hair growth.  Best, Dr. Emer.

PRP works in 3 stages: 
1) inflammation and swelling over the first 14 days
2) immature granulation tissue and in the case of hair follicles just the earliest phase of maturation of dormant follicles over day 14 to 30-45. 
3) maturation of collagen or in the case of hair, short fine hairs that are visible over day 30-60. 
Given this is the time it takes to see the effect from the procedure, doing PRP every 1-2 months until you see the effect that you are hoping to achieve and then spreading out to every 6 months is what I suggest.

The jury is out on what is the best frequency for hair regrow this using PRP. However, some studies suggest 3-4 treatments a month apart followed by maintenance treatment two to three times a year seems to work best.
