3 weeks out breast lift with 370cc Ideal saline implants under muscle. Have shooting pain inside left breast.

Thank you for the question. It's unclear why some patients have these non-specific pains after breast augmentation. These pain episodes usually resolve spontaneously. I would just continue doing the breast massage and avoid strenuous activity/lifting for a few more weeks. Please follow up with your surgeon. Best!

This is usually a good sign that your nerves are on the road to recovery as the skin, muscles, and tissue accommodate your implants.  The sharp shooting pains usually disappear over a period of three to six months.  If they become more intense, consult your PS for advice.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

this may be a trigger point in one of the muscles called the serratus muscle. This muscle is along the side of your chest wall, but radiates pain under the area of the implant. I see this often soon after the surgery or even years after. If all other concerns have been ruled out by your plastic surgeon, then this muscle trigger point can often be treated with acupressure therapy by your surgeon or a therapist. Do not self treat until your surgeon gives you confirmation of this, however.

I would recommend that you discuss this question with your surgeon as every surgeon has their own respective post op protocol for his/her patients.  Your surgeon is your best resource as he/she is most familiar with your medical history and how you are healing at this time.

The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam.

It is not uncommon to have sharp pains in one of both breasts after your surgery. It should improve. Best to see your PS though it is done to wait until next week. Best wishes.

Some tweaks of pain are common after breast augmentation, but just to be safe, you need to be sen in person to be properly evaluated.

Thank you for your question. Pain after breast augmentation, especially in the early postoperative period is quite common. We like to think of this as the nerves that have been stretched to accommodate the underlying implant are now waking up. In my patients experience, they find it helpful to massage the area and stimulate the nerves. Your plastic surgeon is your best resource for the protocol that they like best to deal with the situation. It is also not uncommon that one side hurts more than the other. Hope that's helpful.
