Dear Dayleeg,Thank you for writing in with your question and sharing your photos. It takes about three months before you will see the final results from your surgery. Most importantly is whether you made clear to your surgeon what your desires and expectations were. It maybe when you are healed you will be very happy. If you are not, it is important to re-address your results with your surgeon. I recommend having a follow-up appointment with him/her to address your concerns directly in the near future.I hope this information helps.Sincerely,Troy R. Hailparn, M.D., FACOGCosmetic Gynecology Center of San Antonio
Since it is so earlyin the postoperative period, this amount of swelling and pain isnormal. To reduce pain, itching, and swelling, apply ice packs byputting crushed ice in a resealable plastic bag and covering it witha damp, soft cloth for 20-30 minutes at a time.It will take 3-6 months for the final result. I think you will be fine.
Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. Unfortunately without knowing what your goal results are it is difficult to comment on your current result. What is known is that your tissues have continued soft tissue swelling from the procedure which should improve your results as it resolves. After 6-8 weeks you will have a better idea as to your long-term appearance. Hang in there!
The photo shows generalized swelling, which is typical at this stage of healing and should improve in a few weeks. The clitoral hood shows wrinkled skin along the sides which might persist and if so, could be improved by clitoral hood contouring.
...Looks like your surgeon did a good job (hard to say accurately with a single12-day not closeup pic!) You'll need to wait until at least 6 weeks to see approximate outcome and 3-4 months for "...what you see is what you get..." It all depends on exdactly what you "negotiated" with your surgeon. If you clearly said, "...Doc- take off as much as you possibly can...", then you might not be happy. If you said, "...Doc, take off the flaps & the wings, minimize the sixe, but make it look "..natural," then you should be happy.Best wishes,Michael P Goodman, MDDavis, CA, USA
It is far too early to say, as there is still swelling, which is common at this time. You need to wait closer to 6 months before any revisions. At that time, if you want more taken off, be very specific about what you want done, to make sure your surgeon has a clear understanding of your goals. Thanks for your question, Carmela Pettigrew, MD
You still have swelling. Please give it several weeks to resolve. It it hard to see final picture until swelling goes away completely. Hope this helps
Swelling after labiaplasty may take several weeks to resolve. It appears from your pictures that you still have some bruising and swelling. I would not be too alarmed at this point as the final results usually take 1-3 months to be seen. I'm sure your surgeon will discuss this with you at your next follow up appointment.
The scab will eventually fall off. A little blood is normal at this point and it might bleed a little when the scab falls off.lSince it is so early in the postoperative period, this amount of swelling and pain is normal. To reduce pain, itching, and swelling, apply ice packs by putting crushed...
Hi, this is a great question. Everone’s body heals at its own pace. I would recommend to speak with your surgeon regarding you concerns. They can do an exam to ensure that everything is healing well. Best wishes!
Thank you for your questions. Without an in-person exam or at least a picture, it can be very hard to give you specific advice. If there has been an acute change and you are concerned, you should contact your surgeon to be seen. If the swelling is increasing, it could be due to an underlying...
Dear Mistyc:I have performed labiaplasty routinely for 17 years and between my partner and I have performed approximately 2000 labiaplasties. It is my experience adding a suture more than 24 hours after the initial surgery is not helpful. Now I would not argue with a surgeon who said "Well l...
Thank you for your picture and your question. There does not appear to be any infection visible in the photograph you sent. The small bumps present on your remaining labial tissue are secondary to the suture closure and not in any way related to an infection. Because of the nature of lab...
As the inventor and innovator of the wedge technique in 1994, I reconstruct many women who have had labia reductions by other surgeons, both wedge and trimming techniques. The reconstruction technique depends on the deformity. However, no attempt to revise your labia should be done until you ar...
