Mole removal begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation to determine the likelihood of a mole being worrisome. Excisional and incisional biopsies are reserved for suspicious moles. But it’s good news that most moles are not problematic and are only cosmetic, thus leading to the option of scarless or non-surgical mole removal with lasers and RF and plasma. Our office specializes in non-surgical mole removal. Best,Dr. Raffy KaramanoukianRealself 100 Surgeon
This mole should be examined closely by an experienced dermatologist with the dermatoscopy. If suspicious, a biopsy should be taken. Melanomas may develop in the moles even in young patients!Best of luck, Dr. K
Hi there! Moles can be tricky to determine what's going on underneath the surface. If there are any changes (we call it the "ABCDE"s - asymmetry, borders, color, diameter, and evolution), it's always recommended to take a biopsy. This can easily be done in clinic and gives you piece of mind. If it's benign, you can watch for further changes (or remove if it's unsightly). If it's malignant, it will be important to safely remove the lesion. Best of luck!
Thank you for your question and photograph. It's difficult to assess moles through this type of forum. An in-person evaluation needs to be done to evaluate for any irregularities. For any changing or concerning moles, I highly recommend consulting with a board certified dermatologist to have your mole evaluated. Take care and good luck.
