Thank you for your question. What patients usually experience after undergoing a liposuction procedure is a throbbing or aching feeling that is easily tolerated with moderate oral pain medications. Your recovery starts day one after surgery. Pain medications are usually only necessary for the first few days. On days four through fourteen you will still feel sore, but significantly less than you experienced on days two and three. So it basically takes about two weeks to recover from bruising and pain, and about 4 to 6 weeks for the swelling to go down. You definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. Don’t settle for less than a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.
Thanks for the question. It’s too early to comment over the result. First couple of weeks after the surgery you can back to work and couple of weeks later your permanent recovery will start. It’s possible to see some major changes in Liposuction results till the end of 12 months recovery. I wish you all the best.
Average healing time is several weeks from liposuction, but this can be more or less depending upon how much is done.
Swelling from liposuction can persist for months. It is important to be patient with this as well as other procedures to allow your body to heal itself. Wearing your post op compression garment as long as possible can expedite the process. The amount of fat removed also plays a role in the recovery period. The lesser the fat removed = the sooner one recovers. The more fat is removed = the longer the period of recovery. You should be able to see results immediately despite swelling. Happy healing.Gary Horndeski M.D.
It takes weeks to see the results of liposuction and swelling can last for months. Massage, RF treatments and hyperbaric oxygen will drastically reduce swelling. In my practice most of my patients have very little pain 1 week after following my liposuction post-op protocol. I suggest speaking with your physician. Best, Dr. Emer.
The recover from liposuction depends on the number or areas and the amount of liposuction that is done. In general, for the patient that has liposuction of her abdomen, waist, and thighs, there will be expected downtime for around 5 days. Over that time it is probably best to minimize activity and responsibilities and basically stay home from work and recover. Pain pills are usually only needed for 3-5 days. After that first week most people are back to normal day-to-day activities but they are still sore. It takes 4-6 weeks until exercise and more strenuous activities can be resumed. I like patients to use compression garments for the first few weeks. At least 2 weeks but most often for a month or so is best. Final results from liposuction take at least three months, often longer. There is swelling and firmness to the treated areas that simply takes time to go away. As always, consult with a plastic surgeon board-certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Best of luck!
Thank you for your question. Post liposuction swelling will slowly subside over the next three - six months. The use of a compression garment may expedite the healing process. Hope this helps and good luck with your recovery.
Thank you foryour question. It can take anywhere from 3-6 months, possibly up to one year to fully heal and recover from liposuction depending on the extent of liposuction performed. The best wayto assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see aboard-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorativeplastic surgery.Dr. SchwartzBoardCertified Plastic SurgeonDirector-BeverlyHills Breast and Body Institute#RealSelf100Surgeon
Hello dear, thanks for your question and providedinformation as well.. This is the surgicalprocedure that revolutionized cosmetic surgery becoming one of the mostperformed cosmetic procedures. Subcutaneous tissue or fat is removed in orderto contour the body in a way that is harmonious and pleasing to the senses. Itcan be performed in almost all regions of the body such as the neck, chin, abdomen, back, buttocks, thighs, arms and ankles. Usually done through a smallincision in the skin through which a cannula connected to a vacuum is applied,it can be performed alone or in combination with other procedures. Afterliposuction your body is going to be really swollen for at least 2 to 4 monthsafter your surgery. It is important for you to wear your compression garmentfor at least 6 months, the first 3 months 24/7 and then the last 3 months atleast 12 hours per day for your body get use to not having the faja for so manytime. When you remove it, your body can get swollen and also you can have pain.Remember to also compress your body to prevent a seroma which is anaccumulation of liquid that has to be drained, it is hard to touch and alsoreally painful. Bruises are completely normal for almost 3 months from surgery, that’s why is better for you to use a bruising cream and apply it all over yourbody 3 times a day. To prevent bad circulation and swollen legs, usecompression socks. Brazilian butt lift can be performed with the same procedureand for a month it will be swollen and it will drop a little bit without losingit’s shape if you use your garment.. If you’re going to perform liposuction onyour inner, outer, anterior, lateral, postetior thighs, be careful and consultwith your surgeon what’s best for you, sometimes we have more extra skin thanfat, that can cause severe sagginess on our legs, which can be only be reversedperforming a thigh lift.
I tell patients that most bruising goes away within 2 weeks. Most swelling usually goes away within 6-8 weeks but there may be residual swelling for 4-6 months and sometimes longer.
It appears as though liposuction will be nice for you. However, some patients need an upper back lift to remove excess skin.
Thanks for the question. Having a massage is helpful in the recovery phase of Liposuction, but it's important to avoid aggressive massages. On the practice of Liposuction, some significant edemas would be created by cannula which passes through the tissue. A gentle massage will be beneficial ...
