What was the liquid that oozed out of my injection site directly after getting Botox?

Thank you for your question.  The situation you are describing is likely some Botox dripping from the end of the injection needle and is not a concerning instance.  Best of luck.

The only two things that usually drip onto your skin is a little trickle of blood which you would know what it is or a small amount of Botox.

A very minute amount of liquid can sometimes leak at the tip of the needle especially if a very superficial injection is made where the injector is either trying to avoid blood vessels ( and thereby avoid bruising) or if a very critical area is being injected to effect a thin , superficial muscle rather than a deep muscle eg forehead or upper lip .It should not be enough to effect result .

Rest assured that this is nothing to worry about. Neuromodulators are diluted in Normal Saline and it is not uncommon for a little leakage of botox at the injection site during the injection. Since hypodermic needles are used to pierce the skin, it could also be a little blood droplet.

It is not unusual for a drop of the product to be at the tip of the needle when it is withdrawn from the skin.  This can result in a tiny bit of leakage of the botox onto the skin. If a large amount of the botox leaks out-the area may need to be retreated in 2 weeks. Needles are used to pierce the skin and sometimes a drop of blood will leak out as well.  This is nothing to worry about.

There are three possibilities when Botox comes out the injection site at the time of injection. First, if there is an air bubble in the syringe with Botox it gets substantially compressed due to the pressure of injection and once the needle is withdrawn the air bubble rapidly expands pushing a drop of Botox out of syringe. The second possibility is when a very superficial injection leaves part the needle's bevel outside the skin. The third, under relatively high pressure of injection some of the Botox may escape through a nearby skin pore. In either case some of the Botox is wasted and the dose needs to be adjusted appropriately. Good luck!
