There is usually two aspects to consider when evaluating one's upper eyes. One is the brow height, and the other is the thin skin over the eyelid itself. Based on your picture it appears that your brow height is reasonably high and that more of the issue is the thin skin that is hooding the lid. The better treatment would be an upper bleph (to remove the thin skin). The incision would lay in the natural crease of the eye and extend roughly to the corner (towards the ear) of each eye. This procedure would "open" the eye a bit but not change the shape of the eye itself or brow height. That said, your eyes appear very young, and one should always consider when the best time to start having cosmetic surgery is for them.
For significant improvement, hooded eyelids require surgery if there is enough skin. For nonsurgical treatments: Radiofrequency (Thermage or Venus Legacy/Viva), injectable fillers, and a Botox brow lift can help contour the eyebrows and lift the eyelid skin. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer.
Hi KeelyoliviaThe characteristic appearance of a forehead that is too low will include extra, saggy flesh of the upper lids and loss of a youthful brow arch. Combination therapy using lower lid and upper lid blepharoplasty and brow repositioning are common in combinations to rejuvenate the upper face.Botox can result in slight elevation of the eyebrows but those results would be much more subtle and shorter term than the long lasting results you would get from brow lift surgery. Although brow lift surgery offers a long lasting solution to combat the signs of ages, there is no guarantee that your wrinkles will go away as the main benefit of brow lift surgery is lifting of the brow with secondary lifting of upper eyelid skin.Upper lid blepharoplasty is a very common cosmetic surgery procedure in the UK. The aim of eyelid surgery is to remove excess kin and/or fat deposits to leave the upper lid skin tighter and fresher in appearance. We will discuss the pros and cons of eyelid surgery for you and the likely outcomes at consultation. As you seem very young, it is worth going to see a qualified and experienced surgeon who may be able to offer you some options on what is best suited. Good Luck
Thanks for your excellent Question. This is something we commonly get asked and it can be very confusing. I recently wrote a 3 part editorial on this question and I think you may find it useful. I posted a link below. It goes over a lot of detail, so I think it will help answer your question.Dr James P. Bonaparte
Thank you for your question.A Brow lift will help to elevate the brow only. It may decrease the excess skin of the upper lids, but it will not remove it for you. The only thing that removes that skin would be an upper lid blepharoplasty. Good luck with your decision.
It's a good question. It's very important to determine the cause of the hooding.Hooding can be caused by low brows, which merely gives the appearance of excess upper eyelid skin. Hooding can be causes by a true excess of upper eyelid skin.An in person examination by a qualified surgeon is required to determine the cause of the hooding in your situation. You may benefit from a brow lift or simply excision of upper eyelid skin (blepharoplasty), or both.
Yes a brow lift will improve your hooded eyes. Low hairline=endoscopic brow lift. High hairline= Irregular Trichophytic Forehead lift. See the surgeons results and hairlines for actual results.
Yes. A endoscopic brow lift would both lift the brow and more clearly define your supratarsal crease. You appear to be a good candidate.
A brow lift will have a small effect on the hooding. Yourbrows look high already. Would you want them higher? The aesthetic goal of brow-lift surgery should be restoration of youthful brow shape and position, not elevation perse.
Thank you for submitting a question and pictures! To correct sagging eyebrows and smooth deep forehead creases and frown lines, a brow or forehead lift is the perfect solution. A forehead lift can correct static wrinkles when Botox® isn’t enough. While this procedure does not address excess, crepey upper eyelid skin as does an upper blepharoplasty, it can raise droopy upper eyelids, giving your face a refreshed, more awake appearance. My recommendation is to consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss your desired outcome and the most appropriate treatment for you.
