Uneven nostrils are commonly related to the underlying structural asymmetry and adjustment of these structures through a close technique could improve the asymmetry of the nostril. But, often there is a need for a small incision at the crease next to the nostrils also. Additionally, if you are going to undergo surgery and recover from it you may want to have some other refinements on the nose as well.
The nostrils can be made more symmetric through either open or closed approach. Either the left-sided nostril has to be brought down or the right-sided nostril has to be brought upwards to match the other side.RegardsDr. J
A closed septoplasty can straighten a deviated nasal septum on the internal portion of the nose with an incision placed on the inside of the nasal septum which is approximately 1/2 an inch long. The crooked bone and cartilage that is blocking air flow can be straightened with a functional septoplasty. A closed rhinoplasty can accomplish making changes to the nose such as straightening the bridge line, straightening the nostrils and straightening the midportion of the nose with a spreader graft. An alar plasty may also be required for significantly asymmetric nostrils. For more information and many examples, please see the link and the video below
