I have had horizontal neck rings since birth. With weight gain they have gotten large. I'm in the process of getting control of my health and losing weight but they don't feel like weight loss would help. They feel like loose fat and extra skin. I've also grown a second chin. I've always had a round face so none of this extra fat is doing me any favors. Is there any surgical/non-surgical procedure that would help? If so, would waiting to achieve more weight loss be advisasable?

Double Chin Treatment / Laxity-- SmartLipo/VASER/ThermiRF, Botox, Venus Legacy, KybellaI treat this everyday in my practice. You may be a surgical candidate but you do not need surgery for improvement. Properly performed liposuction with energy based devices and physical fat removal will do fantastic to remove the fat, lift the skin, and contour the jawline. I pretreat everyone with Botox 1-2 weeks before surgery to relax the neck muscles, allowing for better retraction of the skin after surgery. Then after treatment we do skin tightening with Venus Legacy to improve the results and decrease the neck swelling. I suggest you only see an expert for treatment of this area as a meticulous surgeon is required to get great results and complications in this area can be devastating both medically and cosmetically. A new medication that is used to remove chin fat with injections called Kybella may also be an option, as it secondarily allows for skin tightening/lifting as well. You present a challenging situation. Loose skin can be seen as the enemy of liposuction. Loose skin often gets in the way of delivering good results from fat removal procedures. Loose skin can, at times, appear worse after liposuction. The area of concern is also an anatomically risky area to perform liposuction.Liposuction of the lower neck can potentially be dangerous because of important anatomic structures in this area. The chin and upper neck typically respond well to liposuction, but, again, patients with loose skin are limited in the quality of aesthetic outcomes. I don't believe there are non-surgical treatments that will leave you satisfied. If so, it would be one of the radiofrequency type of procedures, such as Venus Freeze.
