Hi. I had lipo in Jan 2015 and look like this today. Aside from the obvious unevenness, does this lacy pattern look like a permanent condition? The doc wants to use BBL and topical creams. I had one treatment a few months ago. I was very painful and didn't help. Any suggestions? I've been told it's permanent and will only get worse with heat and sun.. So depressed about my new body...

Answer: Skin changes after liposuction The skin changes you describe may be the result of heat or mechanical trauma to the underside of your skin. This type of dermal injury can be seen after laser liposuction or VASER ultrasound-assisted liposuction. The recovery time for liposuction is around three months for final results.Skin healing tends to be much slower and can take as long as a year to 18 months. If your treatments did not show improvements, then consider simply giving it more time.Generally, allowing things to heal over time is better than using topical steroids. You can always try a small sample area to see if they help. Hopefully your condition will improve with time. One word of caution: if your skin itches, try at all cost to avoid scratching it.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
