How common is nipple necrosis after breast lift?

 I don't recall having significant necrosis of an areola after a breast lift. If you're choosing  a new surgeon he would like to see the old operative report at the very least.

Fortunately, nipple necrosis does not occur very often. It can happen however if patients smoke or if the breast skin is closed with too much tension and the pedicle is compromised. I would think that your chances would be small as you are going from a larger to a smaller breast size. I would advise you discuss your concerns with your surgeon prior to surgery. Good luck!

With a breast lift, the nipple is not detached from the breast, therefore the blood supply is intact. To date I am yet to see necrosis from a lift. Other things such as implants to big or skin tension too tight can all potentially affect blood supply, but again I have not seen this either.I would find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area who does a lot of these, ask lots of questions, take lots of notes look at lot of photos and then determine which surgeon and which procedure you believe would be best for you.Good LuckStephen M.
