Can I get lip fillers if I am currently breastfeeding?

Hi there! Thank you for your query. Most practitioners would recommend against having any sort of treatment while breastfeeding because there haven’t been enough studies to deem it safe. I would suggest waiting until you are no longer breast-feeding.

Hi. Thank you for your question. It is definitely not recommended to receive injection while breastfeeding. There is no conclusive study for the subject but it is still best to avoid treatment during the breastfeeding phase.

Hi naylime,Our body makeup is composed with hyaluronic acids, but since there has been no clinical studies on pregnant women or women that are breast feeding, fillers are typically not performed under these circumstances.  Due to the topical lidocaine used to anesthetize the area, and the lidocaine in the products used it could be transferred through the milk or to the fetus  in utero.  Consulting with your Aesthetic provider is always a great way to start a timeline for your desired treatment plan. 

While you may be ok having fillers during breastfeeding, it is considered a contraindication.  There have been no studies showing a safety profile in nursing women, and therefore is not recommended.  It may be better to wait until you are done nursing.  Good luck. 

Most of the lip fillers people desire have lidocaine anesthetic in them.  As a result, you are unlikely to find a provider who feels comfortable injecting them in pregnant or breastfeeding individuals.  Be patient, and enjoy the bonding time with your little one!

Hi, I personally don't do any cosmetic injections on breastfeeding women, but  if your pediatrician is aware and fine with your planned lip augmentation, go ahead...Juvederm Ultra has lidocaine, and the filler is hyaluronic acid which naturally occurs in tissue, so in theory it should be fine but of course, it hasn't been studied on humans.  I am assuming your 1 year old is also eating/drinking other nourishment and not exclusively breast feeding so the exposure would be minimal, if at all, I am just very conservative when there are little ones involved.

Thank you for your question! There is no epinephrine in fillers so lidocaine in the syringe would be the main concern with breastfeeding. I would consult with your provider at your appointment and your pediatrician before moving forward with treatment.
