Will a double bubble correct itself in time or will I need corrective surgery?

A true double bubbles does not correct itself, it would require revision surgery by a surgeon with experience in this problem.  However, what you are describing is the process by which an implant can correct a short fold.  Totally different issue.

Depending on the anatomic reason for a double bubble it can improve with time. In a constricted breast the tightness between the areola in the infra mammary fold may relax over time. If however the implant a slip below the infra mammary fold this will require surgical correction.

Hi, thank you for your question, I'm going to answer for what i have studied and for what i have seen, the only treatment for a double bubble is surgical correction.   

A "double bubble" is a cosmetically undesirable circumstance for patients with breast implants, which occurs when the breast fails to take on the shape of the implant, resulting in the appearance of a visible line showing a separation between the bottom edge of the implant and the bottom edge of the natural breast. Sometimes, the appearance of the breast improves over the course of the first several months; sometimes, additional surgery may be necessary to improve the outcome.
This is corrected by “raising” the inframammary fold using internal sutures (capsulorraphy). I have also found the use of acellular dermal matrix very helpful in cases where the skin/tissues are very thin.

Double bubble deformities arise when the lowest part of the implant sits lower than the original breast crease and the old breast crease essentially re-forms.  This creates a situation where there is a crease caused by the lowest part of the implant, and there is a crease where the old crease used to be.  In my experience, women who have a short distance from the lower border of the areola to the existing crease are at the greatest risk for this developing, particularly if they want larger implants.  When a double bubble is noticed it is fairly alarming, at least at first.  Often the double bubble is noticed about 3 weeks after surgery as the swelling begins to resolve.  It may be more noticeable after about 6 weeks.  I have only seen a few patients develop a double bubble, and not any of them went on to do more surgery for it.  After 4 or 6 months they did not notice the double bubble as much and it did not bother them enough to actually go through additional surgery for it.  It is certainly possible, however, for a double bubble to be quite noticeable and some patients may decide it bothers them enough that they are willing to go through more surgery.  Sometimes a double bubble may be corrected by grafting fat into the area.  Other times the implant may need to be lifted and the old crease re-established.  That may be pretty complex surgery.  It's a pretty complex topic and may be a complex problem if it develops.  It is actually nice to know that your surgeon has identified that you are at risk for the problem developing.  Identifying at-risk women before they go through surgery allows the surgeon to do things to help minimize the likelihood of the double bubble forming.
