In the hands of a skilled surgeon, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Face/Neck surgeons, the procedure is safe. Thank you for your questions and good luck with everything.
Liposuction of the chin is a relatively safe procedure if performed by an experienced board certified plastic surgeon. There is always a risk of bleeding and infection, however these risks are very low. There can also be some temporary numbness of the skin due to trauma and inflammation around the tiny nerves that supply the neck skin. Your plastic surgeon will review all the relevant risks and the anatomy in the area prior to surgery. This procedure can be done under local anesthesia with sedation or under general anesthesia (asleep). In the correct candidate, the results of liposuction to the chin can be quite dramatic. Best wishes, Dr. Bruno
Neck liposuction is a safe procedure IF done by a trained surgeon. The worst complication is damage to the facial nerve, resulting in inability to lower the lip on the side affected (cannot show your lower teeth). In ten years of practice, I have never had permanent damage to this nerve. However, in some patients, temporary weakness develops and resolves in 1-2 months.
This area is a very simple operation in the correct hands of the trained surgeon. Most are under local anesthesia. Vewry fast healing event. Best of luck. From MIAMI Dr. B
Chin or Neck Liposuction is a safe procedure when performed by an experienced, competent Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. However ALL surgical procedures, no matter how minor, carry some risk of complication. While complications of Chin or Neck Liposuction are rare they can include bleeding, infection, skin irregularity, fluid accumulation, and inadequate result among others. The most important thing is for you to find an expert surgeon whom you trust and feel comfortable with. Referrals from friends who have had good results are an important source of information. See 2 or more Board Certified Plastic Surgeons who do Liposuction. Ask them to discuss potential complications, see photos of their results and if possible speak to patients who have had the procedure. Trust you instincts, if you are uncomfortable, see a different doctor.
