How much time should I take off work after getting a chin implant?

Question

I work from home, so I have a pretty sedentary job. I took a day off for my surgery but that's it so far. I am having a pre op appointment, so I will get more info then, but do you think I should take at least 2 days off?

The procedure is a short outpatient procedure that lasts about 30 minutes. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia. You have a little bruising or swelling for three or four days, but the postoperative course is smooth and has few complications. In addition, the patient notices immediate improvement. Your board-certified plastic surgeon will be the best resource for determining how you are healing and if you need more time off work.

Thank you for your question. It really depends on your level of comfort working while recovering. Everyone is different. You chin will be swollen and sore, and you will most likely have compression tape as well. Pain is typically mild to moderate. It's probably wise to take a day or two. I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors.It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.

Thank you for your question.  Most likely you will feel fine a day after your surgery, but depending on your surgeon's preference, sometimes there will be a dressing in place for 5-7 days.   If that is the case, you should be able to work but not participate in a Zoom meeting for that period of time.  Best of luck to you.
