I Had an Umbilical Hernia Repaired a Year Ago. It is Back. Please Advise?

I had an umbilical hernia repaired a year ago. It appears as if it was only fixed at 50%. In other words it looks better and sticks out less but it is still there. I also have a terrible round keloid scar around my belly button. My insurance covered this procedure. I use silicone strips on my belly button and it has helped the scar but it looks ugly and I know the hernia is not fixed completely because it sticks out and if I push down on it you hear a squish noise. Where do I go from here?

See your surgeon. It may be advisable for your surgeon to use mesh this time to minimize the chance of recurrence. SInce this is a recurrence, you may wish to see a surgeon with considerable experience with hernia repair--in this case a general surgeon.
