Temporal Fillers for Prominent Arteries? (Photo)

Question

I'm a 30 year old male with very prominent temporal arteries. I have relatively low body fat and have always been very active, which I've read can contribute to this issue. I've also considered Giant cell arteritis; however, I have none of the symptoms of this condition. I'm looking for thoughts on my candidacy for temporal fillers. I'd greatly prefer something permanent but I'm open to anything.

While they can be caused by various factors, including genetics, aging, and physical activity, it is important to rule out any underlying medical conditions such as giant cell arteritis before considering cosmetic treatments.

Assuming there are no medical concerns, temporal fillers may be a viable option for reducing the appearance of prominent temporal arteries. Fillers such as hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite can be injected into the area to create a more smooth and even appearance. The effects of these fillers typically last several months to a year, so repeated treatments may be necessary to maintain the desired result.

Alternatively, permanent fillers such as Bellafill may be an option, although these carry some risks and are not recommended for everyone. It is important to discuss the pros and cons of each treatment option with a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist who can assess your individual anatomy and recommend the most appropriate course of action. They can also discuss any potential risks and side effects associated with each treatment option.

The fillers may worsen your prominent arteries. The STA can be ligated and I specialize in that cosmetic treatment for the forehead.

Trying to mask these with fillers/fat grafts etc may lead you to look doughy or puffy. Consider seeing a local specialist well-versed in shrinking vessels with non-invasive methods first - such as lasers or other heat-based technologies. Bear in mind, these are not without their own risks and are not a guarantee. Should that fail, you could consider endovascular treatments.

It would be important to rule out any medical problem that would cause loss of volume in this area.  Dermal fillers give a very nice effect in softening and volumizing the temporal area.   Another option is to use a product called sculptra.  It stimulates your own collagen to fill in the area.  Make sure that you consult  an experienced injector as this is a complicated area to inject.
