Hello, I am a 45 year old woman with mid-face hollowing. Everytime that I smile, the hollowness appears, what type of dermal fillers or cosmetic procedure will correct my mid-face hollowing? I love to smile daily therefore, I hope my concern is correctable. Thank you

At least from the photos provided, the problem seen is what has been termed parallel laugh lines, i.e. a series of two to three paralllel wrinkles of skin folds that appear typically in the lower third of the face region surrounding the mouth when smiling or laughing. In my experience, these typically respond very well to the use of a low viscosity, resilient cohesive HA filler injected in an appropriate fanning injection technique. Make sure to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist and of course ask to see his/her personal befores and afters before agreeing to proceed. Best of luck.

Fillers use hyaluronic acid to restore lost volume, while fat grafting transfers your body’s own fat to specific areas of the face for volume restoration. Both treatment options provide favorable results, though the benefits of fat grafting generally last longer in most patients.
